Q1 Facts & Trivia
- Q1 is supported by 26 piles. Each pile is up to 2 metres
in diameter and extends 40 metres into the ground and then
4 metres into solid bedrock.
- The Q1 Observation Deck, on level 77 and 78 has room
for 400 people is one of the worlds rare beachside observation
decks and extends 230 metres into the sky.
- Q1 was the recipient of the Emporis skyscraper silver
award in 2005; an award for architectural design excellence
- At 323m high, Q1 is taller than the Eiffel tower, Chrystler
building in New York and the Burj Al Arab Hotel in Dubai
- Q1 was named after the Australian Olympic skulling team
of the 1920’s
- The elevator to the Observation deck takes approx 43
seconds to rise 77 floors
- The Gold Coast based Sunland Group was the architect
and developer of the Q1 high rise
- If the electric lift cabling were unraveled, it would
stretch over 10,000km and reach Sydney from the Gold Coast
- Q1 has a sister building under development in Dubai named
D1
- The design for Q1’s retail atrium was inspired
by the humble artichoke
- The Q1 spire measures a massive 90 metres in length
- The concrete used at Q1 was customized for the construction
of the tower and was pumped to all 80 levels
